At Gettysburg College in spring 1971, a group of students,
faculty, and community members, under the direction of a seminarian intern,
staged a performance of the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar. It ran
into unforeseen production problems, but against certain odds became a rousing
success. It has never been forgotten by either the performers or the audience. For Gettysburg's 2016
Reunion Weekend, Archives Assistant Devin McKinney gave a presentation on the
production in Mara Auditorium, Masters Hall. This was followed by a panel
reuniting many of the original performers and planners.
